Congratulations to last week's TOK-tober winners!
Callie St. Bernard from Ms. Pieratt's 4th hour English class won a Subway gift card in the individual drawing. Congrats to Callie's class for participating in TOK-tober.

Go Green will be having our weekly meeting today after 6th and 7th hour in the library. We will be discussing upcoming projects and initiatives with Dow executives. Feel free to bring a friend. Everyone is welcome!
Dow Drama: Chargers Onstage is holding open auditions for "A Little Princess", on Thursday, October 14th, 6-7:30 pm at Central Auditorium. Material for cold readings will be provided, no preparation or experience necessary. The second fall play is a family-friendly stage adaptation of the 1905 children's novel, centered around a young girl, Sara Crewe. The story follows the 10-year-old's new life at Miss Minchin's London boarding school and her often emotional misadventures that follow. Interested students may email director Ms. Gina Kearly firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up and access the season calendar.
"The Bully Plays" cast members rehearse Monday, Oct 11th, 5-7 and Tuesday, Oct 12th, 4-5:30, upstairs at Central Auditorium. Non-participating students who need to return a script may do so either day."
Interested in Computer Science? Interested in preparing for coding competitions such as Google Kickstart and the American Computer Science League? The Dow High Computer Science Club will be having a brief virtual informational meeting on Friday, October 15th from 7:30-8:00 PM via Google Meet. Attention German Clubbers! It's the second Tuesday of the month this week, that means it's German Club time. Come on down to room 377 after 7th hour on Tuesday and hang out with your German Club friends, or make new ones. We'll also make plans for our newsletter. Come out and be part of the German Club.
There will be an NHS meeting on Thursday, October 14 before school at 7:00 am and after sixth hour at 2:30 in the Little Theater. All probationary and inducted members should plan on attending one of these meetings. See you there!"

Friday night, the Dow High JV soccer team traveled to TC to play TC Central.
The Chargers defeated the Trojans 4-0, as they ran their record to 11-2-1. Dow dominated the play as the defense of Tule,Folkenroth, T-York, J-Mac, Soderberg, and Seba held The Trojans to 0 shots on goal; earning the shutout was Evan Pfeiffer.
Goals were scored by Luke Storey 2, Jordyn Groulx and Nathan Hanson. Assists for the Chargers were Soderberg, Liam Sajbel (say-bell) Sam Scott and Ethan Duling. Today, they play their final game of the season vs Flint Powers on Charger turf.
Dow High JV soccer team ran its record to 10-2-1 as they defeated the Midland High Chemics 5-0, on Wednesday night. The stout defensive play of Soderberg, Folkenroth J-Mac, T-York, Tule (Two-Lay), He, and Seba (Say-ba)held Midland High to 3 shots on goal; as Evan Pfeffer earned the shutout. Scoring goals for the Chargers were Micah Dahn (Mike-a Dan) for 2, Justin Alade, and Sam Scott; and an own goal by Midland High after strong offensive pressure by the Charger Offense. Assists from Luke Storey for 2, Eli Soderberg and Nito Esan (Knee- toe).
Next game will be Monday away vs Flint Carman Ainsworth.
The Dow High Soccer team shut out host Traverse City Central 3-0 and moved to 17-1-0. Jonah Dahn scored early in the game. Lance Coleman scored the second goal on a pass from Isaac Skinner. The final goal was scored by Alex Futter on an assist from Tyler Sanchez.
The Varsity soccer game finishes the regular season Monday 10/11 at home against Flint Powers. And then the playoffs start on Wednesday 10/13 home against Bay City Central.
Two weeks ago the Freshmen football team lost to Heritage by a score of 20 - 46. Ethan Menzies led the scoring with two touchdowns and Jake Szajenko had one. Kaiden Richardson scored a 2 point conversion.
Last week your Freshmen battled to a tough loss against Lapeer by a score of 28 - 54. The defense was led by Lukus Studebaker and Menzies in tackles. Garrett Tolles, Mason Daniels and Menzies forced and recovered fumbles. The offense was led by the arm of Gibson Brown throwing two touchdowns to Szajenko and running one. Menzies also scored a touchdown.
Your Freshman football team hosts Bay City Central this Thursday at 4:30.

Attention Chargers! The Dow high yearbook staff has been working very hard on this year's yearbook. The yearbook is currently $60, that is the cheapest price this year. The price will increase to $65 on November 1st and again to $70 on February first. You may pick up an order form outside of room 218 or order online at www.yearbookordercenter.com. The deadline for ordering a yearbook is January 19th.
Seniors! Senior photos are due by Wednesday, November 24th, 2021. All photos must have a copyright release attached if your photographer is not directly sending them. To submit your photos you must go to update.midlandps.org, select "The Charger Yearbook" tab and click the google form link.
