Remote Learning during Holiday Weeks

As such, Midland Public Schools will move to full remote learning* during the following dates: ? Thanksgiving Week — November 23, 24, 25 (On November 25, teaching/learning will take place AM only) ? Week 1 of Winter Break — December 21, 22 We believe that having students and staff in remote learning for Thanksgiving week (9 consecutive days MPS contact free) and during the December holiday week dates (2 full weeks MPS contact free) with no in-school activity will allow the quarantine/isolation period to end for staff and students designated as confirmed/close contacts. Based on the numbers of COVID cases rising in our state, country and community, however, we could anticipate that during these major holidays, more students and staff may be exposed due to family gatherings. With these Districtwide remote learning days, families/staff may be able to identify symptoms before a student/staff member enters MPS buildings following the November or December breaks, which we would hope could decrease the number of students and staff who would need to quarantine following the holidays. As always, Midland Public Schools sincerely appreciates the trust, support and cooperation of our students, staff and families as we work together for the health, safety and wellbeing of all MPS students! Michael E. Sharrow, Superintendent of Schools
