FREE, nourishing, satisfying food?  Check!

Soul-filling, thought-provoking literature? Check!

How often do you get the opportunity to read current literature from an author who is writing about a relevant, urgent, and ongoing crisis merely an hour’s drive from where we live?

How often do you get the opportunity to read a text from a Michigan native, a woman, someone with a diverse cultural background?

How often do you get the opportunity to read with no strings attached--no quizzes, no assignments, no reflections, no essays, none?

The Great Michigan Read is a program created for students all across high schools and colleges in Michigan to study a text with thousands of peers all across the state all at the same time. They’ve chosen What the Eyes Don’t See: A Story of Crisis, Resistance, and Hope in an American City by Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha as this year’s selection. It's a gripping, eye-opening, nonfiction piece about the Flint Water Crisis.

Booked for Lunch will take place during both lunches….pssst, lunch will be provided...We will be reading and discussing the text with many more activities in store.

Please see Ms. Hilliard in room 319 to place your name on a sign-up sheet by Friday, October 11th.  Help us put our 30 copies of the book to good use!
