Congratulations to Sasha Konovalenko on finishing 7th in the World Youth Rapid Chess Championship and 2nd in the World Blitz Chess Championship!! Over 200 players from 25 different countries participated in the competition.

The Charger Marching Band had a great practice last night. Mr. DeRees would like to thank all of the athletes who helped us out by not parking in the band lot after school. We are going to be out there every Wednesday evening through October 23.
For any Junior and Senior IB diploma candidates and anybody considering taking any IB test, Dow High’s IB Mentor Center will be having their first meeting tomorrow, Friday, September 20th in the media center after 7th hour. Here will we be talking about what IB has to offer and answer any questions that you may have. Hope to see you there tomorrow.

Information about the MSU Poetry Contest and MSU Fiction Contest is now available. The deadline for submissions is Friday, October 18. Please see your English teacher for more information and GOOD LUCK!
Times flying by so you know what’s coming around the corner ...HOMECOMING! But what you don’t know is that it’s October 5th from 7- 10. Ticket sales will be starting on October 1st with tickets being available during BOTH lunches, for $8. But get your ticket when we start selling them at school, because it’ll be $10 at the door!

The A H Nickless Innovation competition is now open for registration. This competition encourages students to work in teams, think innovatively, and be passionate about STEM subjects and skills. Winners of this competition will receive a $5000 scholarship and a $20,000 technology grant for the school. To register your team go to AHNinnovationAWARD.com

"Attention Dow High students: The Gay Straight Alliance will be holding its first meeting today in room 217 at 3:30. GSA is open to any student seeking a friendly, supportive environment in the company of great people. Once again, the first GSA meeting will be today at 3:30 in room 217. If you are unable to make this meeting, come down to room 217 to meet your staff advisors after 6th hour."

Attention all chemistry enthusiasts! If you want to take part in all things chemistry, be sure you attend one of our informational meetings either today after school or next Tuesday after school. Meetings will take place after both 6th and 7th hour. Come see us in room 129B and see what we are all about!
Last night the Boys Varsity Soccer team defeated Bay City Western by a score of 2-0. Goals were scored by Tyler Lyman and Julien Theuerkauf. Both were assisted by Albertas Klugas. Next week the team will play Saginaw Heritage home on Monday.
Dow's JV Soccer moved to 11-0-1, and 3-0-0 in the SVL North with a 5-0 win at Bay City Western. Hayden Baus and Chip Shumaker led the way in goal, and Justin Schafer, Adam Pfeiffer, Ian Metzler, Danny Safadi, Cole Kinney, and Tyler Huber led the defense to earn the team's 10th shutout.
The Chargers had a balanced attack with Drew Soto, Jonah Dahn, Santiago Lopez, Sam Senkowski, and Jack Wolohan each scoring a goal.
Isaac Skinner, Sam Senkowski, Drew Soto, and Jack Wolohan each had an assist.
Next up the Chargers will host Saginaw Heritage on Monday at 5 pm.
